Suitable for artist at all levels, this inspiring course at Maison du Guit with Greg Mason will provide the perfect opportunity to explore how to develop new skills and build confidence in the making of representational art. Starting with the basics of choosing your subject matter and how to establish a strong composition, we go on to learn a number of drawing skills that lay the foundations of good painting practice.
Whether you are new to acrylics or oils, it doesn’t matter, as Greg will give daily demonstrations of how to approach different subject matter in the best possible way and be available to support you with the development of your own paintings and style.
Starting with a blank canvas - understanding composition and drawing
Establishing tonal values – making a good start
Colour layers – brushes, paint section and colour application
Finishing Strong – final touches and knowing when to stop
Over the course of the week there will be 5 full painting days with time split between studio sessions, where we focus on still life, and fabulous excursions to nearby places of interest where we will use a mixture of sketching and painting in the open air.
Learning new skills in easy, manageable steps is at the heart of this painting holiday and where better to gain inspiration than in the heart of the French countryside surrounded by vineyards, churches, castles, markets and picture-perfect views.
